Our Courses

To obtain a new Forklift Licence (LF) in Victoria you must attend and successfully complete a training course with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which has been authorised by WorkSafe Victoria to issue High Risk Work (HRW) Licences. Your HRW Licence is valid for 5 years.

Elevated Platform Licence

Boom-type elevating work platform EWP (boom length 11 metres or more) or aerial platforms, can be raised very high in order to reach normally inaccessible areas. This is a WorkSafe Victoria issued High Risk Work (HRW) Licence.

Scissor lifts (SL) are a hydraulic platform that are raised and lowered directly above the base. You don’t need a high risk work licence to operate a scissor lift though you must successfully complete a training course with a RTO to be issued a Yellow Card to operate a scissor lift under 11 metres. Yellow Card training covers the theory and practical use of scissor lifts as unit of competence RIIHAN301B – operating elevated work platforms.

Order Picker Licence

To obtain a new Order Picking Forklift Truck (LO) Licence in Victoria you must attend and successfully complete a training course with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which has been authorised by WorkSafe Victoria to issue High Risk Work (HRW) Licences. Your HRW Licence is valid for 5 years.

On successful completion of this Order Picker Licence Melbourne course you will receive a Statement of Attainment; Licence to operate an order picking forklift truck.

  • TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more).
  • LILIC0004 Licence to operate an order picking forklift truck

High Risk Work Licences

A high risk work licence is required to operate some machinery, erect scaffolding or undertake dogging or rigging work.

To undertake certain types of work, you must hold a the relevant licence for:

  • forklifts
  • scissor lift
  • order pickers
  • elevated work platforms

The high risk work licences are valid for five years and recognised nationally: you can work in any state or territory if you have a current HRW licence.

Application process

The AWFTC will give you the application forms you need for a new card after you have completed your training. If found competent, you will then take those forms to your nearest Australia Post office as well as 100 points of ID.
