LICENCE TO OPERATE A FORKLIFT TRUCK (LF)

The 2 Day forklift course (licence to operate a forklift truck) is ideal for those students who have had no prior experience with operating a Forklift and require a more comprehensive training solution.

This forklift licence course runs over 2 full days of training, to give students adequate time to absorb the training material and practice their new skills. This Nationally Recognised training consists of both theory and practical hands-on learning, so students can feel completely confident taking their knowledge back into the workplace.

At the end of the 2 days of training, students will have all the necessary skills to safely and confidently check, maintain and use this machine in accordance with all Australian Standards and Regulation.

Any person performing work with a forklift truck in Melbourne is required to hold a forklift truck high risk work (HRW) licence.

• Forklift course study materials will be issued at the time of booking to allow time to complete the requirements prior to the course commencement.
• Students are required to complete some pre-reading and complete a workbook before they undertake the face to face ses
• sions at AWFTC.
• For students with some industry experience operating a forklift/order picker/EWP this involves approximately 6 hours of pre-reading. For students with no or minimal industry experience operating a forklift approximately 8 hours of pre-reading.

Topics covered in the Forklift Licence course:

• Acts and Regulations which affect how you work;
• Using different types of forklift trucks with a range of fuel/power sources;
• Inspecting the site and the forklift (including pre-start, planning, post-start and post-operational checks);
• Forklift attachments and controls;
• Data plates/load charts;
• Load centre and Centre of Gravity;
• Travel speed and visibility;
• Safe operating techniques & exercises (including lifting, lowering and positioning loads correctly; stacking into racks, stacks, containers and truck trays; travelling with and without loads; travelling on ramps/slopes);
• Safe shutdown and parking;
• Safety of other personnel.

1. Must provide one primary proof of photo ID (Keypass, Passport, Australian Drivers Licence);
2. Applicants must be aged 18;
3. Basic English, literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation;
4. Must have the physical capacity to undertake the practical training and assessment components.

In additon to getting a licence to operate a forklift in Victoria, you may upgrade your qualification to be a Nationally Recognised Training. (TLILIC0003 Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck)

If you are undertaking Nationally Recognised Training you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) that gives you access to your online USI account that contains all your nationally recognised training records. The main benefit of the USI is that you will have easy access to your training records and results throughout your life.

This is an entry level credential and can be used to contribute to other nationally recognised qualifications in Road Transport or similar (including, but not limited to, Certificate II in Driving Operations, Certificate II in Waste Management, Certificate III in Timber Building Products Supply, Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations).
